Lalduhoma, the founder of Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Mizoram at Rajbhavan on Friday. Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lalduhoma. After securing a significant victory in Monday's assembly polls, the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) dethroned the reigning Mizo National Front (MNF), securing 27 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress trailed far behind, securing two and one seat respectively. Eddy Zosangliana, ZPM media cell general secretary, mentioned that the Val Upa Council of the party convened on Wednesday to discuss the formation of the council of ministers. With Mizoram's 40-member assembly, there can be up to 12 ministers, including the Chief Minister. Lalduhoma, upon assuming office, pledged to address Mizoram's financial crises inherited from the outgoing government. He emphasized the formation of a resource mobilization team for financial reforms, citing its necessity. Additionally, Lalduhoma highlighted his party's commitment to prioritizing farmers' welfare and announced plans for constructing three new hydroelectric dams aimed at generating 300 MW of power. He assured the public that there would be no increase in power tariffs for the next five years.
