Panaji: The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday appointed former cricketer Kirti Azad as the new in-charge of the party in Goa. Cricketer-turned-politician, Azad left the Congress last year and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Prior to that he was BJP's Lok Sabha MP from Bihar. After shunning BJP, he joined Congress and then moved to TMC. Azad has been appointed as the new in-charge of the party in Goa, replacing TMC MP Mahua Moitra. The party issued a statement saying that Azad's appointment has come into force with immediate effect.
