About Vande Bharat Express The Vande Bharat Express represents a significant leap in Indian rail technology. Introduced in February 2019 and initially known as Train 18, these semi-high-speed trains are designed to reach speeds of up to 180 km/h. However, due to track conditions, they typically operate at 130 km/h on most routes. Despite this, Vande Bharat trains are the fastest on their respective routes, with the New Delhi-Varanasi route holding the record for the highest average speed at 95 km/h.
