New Delhi: Ahead of Diwali, Arvind Kejriwal, AAP Supremo, announced that all sanitation workers under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have received their salaries along with a Diwali bonus for the first time before the end of the month. Speaking alongside Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi, Kejriwal highlighted that around 64,000 MCD sanitation workers received Rs 23 crore in bonuses and salaries credited directly to their accounts. He emphasized that, unlike previous years under the BJP’s administration, where employees reportedly faced delays of six to eight months in receiving their salaries, his administration has ensured timely payments since taking office. Kejriwal said, "During the BJP's tenure, corruption was widespread, and employees had to protest to receive their dues. Under AAP, salaries have been credited in the first week of every month over the last two years, and no sanitation worker has needed to protest." With the festival approaching, Kejriwal assured that all sanitation workers received their salaries early this month, enabling them to celebrate Diwali comfortably with their families. He further noted, "This is the first time in MCD's history that employees have received their salaries before the month-end."
