BANGALORE: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata party party is holding marathon meetings on Thursday to introspect the humiliating defeat in the recently concluded Assembly polls. Being held at the party headquarters in Bangalore, the meeting will deliberate on the selection of candidates for the posts of leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and council besides the party President from elected MLAs and leaders, party sources said. Strategies are being developed in the morning MLA meeting to corner the Congress government during the impending budget session. On July 7, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will deliver the budget. The saffron party will talk about methods to restrain the Congress during the session, which is slated to last as long as possible given the success of the guarantee schemes. The party is planning a gathering of unsuccessful candidates for later in the day. As a result of the election losses of several current ministers, the gathering has gained significance since senior leaders who experienced defeat are likely to discuss honestly what went wrong and why the party's election strategy failed. The evening core committee meeting will be where the contributions from the morning meetings will be discussed. Yediyurappa, and National General Secretary C.T. Ravi. The high command is considering appointing a Vokkaliga or Lingayat leader to the office of state president or leader of the opposition in the Assembly, source said, adding that the opposition leader in the Legislative Council would be replaced by a member of the underclass.
