Shimla: Actress Kangana Ranaut, BJP's candidate from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, conducted a spirited roadshow in the city in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Amidst enthusiastic cheers from the gathered crowd, the 'Queen' actress waved and interacted with supporters, who warmly welcomed her during the event. Addressing the gathering, the BJP candidate for Mandi expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating, "You can see the large gathering here. A lot of people have come here. They are all proud that the daughter of Mandi, the nationalist voice from Mandi, will represent the constituency in this election." Asserting the BJP's focus on development as the primary agenda, Kangana Ranaut emphasized, "Development is the main issue for BJP. The people of Mandi will show what is in their heart," amidst resounding chants of 'Jai Shri Ram' from supporters. However, Kangana Ranaut may face a formidable challenge from Congress state President Pratibha Singh, who expressed readiness to contest from Mandi, the seat she won in a bypoll in 2021. Pratibha Singh conveyed her willingness to contest against Kangana Ranaut if directed by the top leadership of the Congress. "If they finalise my name, I will go to the field to fight the elections," she affirmed, highlighting her prior engagement with constituents as an MP in the constituency. Himachal Pradesh comprises four Lok Sabha seats: Hamirpur, Mandi, Shimla, and Kangra, all of which were won by the BJP in 2019. The upcoming elections for these seats, along with bypolls for six assembly constituencies, will take place on June 1.
