MUMBAI: On Thursday, Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), and Murray Auchincloss, CEO of bp, celebrated the inauguration of Jio-bp’s 500th electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. This milestone also marks the launch of the 5,000th Jio-bp pulse charging point across India. Jio-bp, a joint venture between RIL and bp, has significantly expanded its EV charging network, growing from 1,300 to 5,000 stations in just one year. The company boasts that 95% of its charging network consists of fast chargers, the highest percentage in the industry. With an impressive uptime of 96%, Jio-bp has established itself as the most reliable EV charging network in the country. “Jio-bp is leading the way in promoting EV adoption in India. With the largest share of fast-charging stations and the quickest growth in charging infrastructure, we are providing a well-rounded, digital charging solution for millions of Indians,” Anant Mukesh Ambani stated during the event. In addition to traditional charging options, Jio-bp is advancing its efforts in green energy through Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited’s solar power initiatives. This move aligns with their broader mission of supporting sustainable green mobility in India. Murray Auchincloss highlighted the strategic importance of EV charging in bp's transition to an integrated energy company. “We are concentrating on scale, speed, and strategic locations to enhance customer experience. By leveraging bp and RIL’s strengths, we are offering convenient EV charging solutions that deliver unique value to our customers,” he said.
