KANPUR: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur's Department of Civil Engineering will introduce the country's first-ever online post-graduate degree in construction engineering. IIT Kanpur introduced four new eMasters degrees in commodity markets, communication systems, power sector regulation, and cyber security. The curriculum, which focuses on "Sustainable Building Practices and Project Management," is a recent addition to the institute's distinctive eMasters degree programme. It is intended to meet the demands of India's rapidly expanding infrastructure and construction sectors, claims an official announcement. This programme seeks to give working civil engineers and architects the knowledge and abilities they need to manage projects efficiently while consuming the least amount of resources, energy, and carbon. IIT Kanpur Director Prof. Abhay Karandikar said: "Addressing sustainability challenges in this area is crucial because India's economy heavily depends on the infrastructure and construction sectors. This programme, like all the other diverse eMasters degree programmes that we are successfully administering to support India's overall growth, is created to offer a suitable blend of academic insights and industrial skills to meet the expanding requirements of this sector that is expanding exponentially. Once this initiative is up and running, it will contribute to the development of safer and more environmentally friendly construction and infrastructure methods." It will cover a variety of themes, such as sustainable design and construction, green building materials, project management, and funding for sustainable projects. The programme was meticulously created by IIT Kanpur faculty members and industry specialists. IIT Kanpur's executive-friendly eMasters degree programmes provide a flexible route for executives to finish the degree in anywhere between 1-3 years. The degree programme, which was authorised by the Senate, includes a campus tour to IIT Kanpur as well as career guidance and mentoring.
