IIT Bombay remains the top preference for aspiring engineers in 2024, with 72 of the top 100 JEE Advanced rankers opting to join the prestigious institution. The computer science program continues to be a major draw, attracting the brightest minds from across India. This year, IIT Delhi followed with 23 of the top 100 rankers, while IIT Madras secured two. Notably, all of the top 10 rankers chose to study computer science at IIT Bombay, underscoring the institute's reputation as a leader in engineering education. Out of the first 25 rankers, 24 chose IIT Bombay, and 47 of the top 50 students also preferred the institution. This trend highlights the ongoing appeal of IIT Bombay among India's top-ranking engineering candidates. Admission data from JEE Advanced 2024 further reveals that IIT Bombay was the top choice for many. Out of the top 500 rankers, 179 chose IIT Bombay, followed by 109 opting for IIT Delhi, and 69 selecting IIT Madras. Interestingly, IIT Kharagpur, once the most sought-after IIT, did not receive any students from the top 100 rankers this year, marking a significant shift from its earlier dominance. Similarly, IIT Kanpur, which was a top choice a decade ago, now attracts fewer top-ranking students compared to IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi.
