Chennai Traffic Police has released a travel advisory in preparation for the Indian Air Force (IAF) air show scheduled for Sunday, October 6, at Marina Beach. The event will kick off at 11:00 AM. The advisory encourages the public to plan their travel to ensure a smooth experience during the event. It emphasizes that attendees should consider using the Metro and Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) services to avoid heavy traffic and reach the venue comfortably. To enhance the viewing experience, the Traffic Police recommends that attendees arrive early to secure good spots and soak in the pre-show atmosphere. This year’s air show theme is “Bhartiya Vayu Sena - Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar,” which translates to "Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant." Group Captain Supandeep Singh mentioned that approximately 10-12 lakh people are expected to attend this aerial display, marking the first such event in Chennai in two decades. The show will feature 22 different types of aircraft, commemorating the 92nd anniversary of the IAF. Air Officer Commander Rathish Kumar VM noted that the flypast can be observed from beaches stretching from Kovalam to Marina. He highlighted that major aerobatic performances by the Tejas, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, and Surya Kiran teams will take place at Marina Beach. The IAF will demonstrate its aerial capabilities with Rafale, Sukhoi, and Tejas jets. Additionally, members of the elite Akash Ganga skydiving team will perform high-altitude jumps, while the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team will dazzle spectators with precise formations and synchronized maneuvers. The Sarang Helicopter Display Team will also showcase its signature aerial choreography.
