How Security Forces Are Responding to Ongoing Terrorist Encounter in Baramulla

Baramulla (Jammu and Kashmir): An encounter is currently taking place between security forces and terrorists along the Line of Control (LOC) in Baramulla district. The Indian Army confirmed the operation on Sunday.

In a statement on X, the Indian Army's Chinar Corps reported that a joint anti-infiltration operation was launched in the area due to intelligence inputs about a possible infiltration attempt. The statement mentioned, "Based on intelligence inputs regarding a likely infiltration bid, a joint anti-infiltration operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police along the LOC in the Uri area of Baramulla. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged the individuals, resulting in the terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Vigilant troops responded with effective fire. The operation is in progress."

In another development, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two terrorists in Poonch district, as announced by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Anand Jain, on Saturday. He stated that the arrests helped solve multiple grenade attack cases in the region.

"We have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting two terrorists involved in activities such as grenade attacks and distributing anti-national posters. They were responsible for throwing grenades at Gurudwaras, temples, hospitals, and army bases," Jain said. He further noted that these individuals aimed to disrupt communal harmony in the area.

Earlier, on Friday, security forces apprehended an individual linked to terrorism in the Dundak area of Surankote Sector in Poonch district. Police confirmed that four grenades were recovered from the suspect, indicating a major breakthrough in addressing recent terror incidents in the frontier district.

In a separate incident, Ashok Chauhan, a migrant laborer from Bihar, was found dead with bullet injuries on Friday in Shopian district.
