Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India’s strong support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the UN Summit of the Future to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine and explore potential pathways toward peace. In a social media post, Zelensky shared his appreciation for the discussion. "This is our third bilateral meeting this year. We are working together to enhance cooperation in various areas," he said. Zelensky also emphasized the focus on strengthening collaboration on global platforms. "The main focus of our conversation was on boosting our interaction on international platforms, particularly at the UN and G20. We also discussed implementing the Peace Formula and preparing for the second Peace Summit," he added. Expressing his appreciation for India's diplomatic stance, Zelensky wrote, "I am grateful for Prime Minister Modi’s clear support for our sovereignty and territorial integrity." During their meeting, PM Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to resolving the conflict through diplomacy and dialogue. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that Modi reiterated India’s "clear, consistent, and constructive" approach, which emphasizes engagement between all concerned parties. Following the meeting, PM Modi posted on social media, "Met President Zelensky in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my recent visit to Ukraine to further strengthen bilateral ties. Reiterated India’s support for an early resolution of the Ukraine conflict and the restoration of peace." This marked the third meeting between the two leaders within just over three months, with both agreeing to maintain close contact, according to the MEA. PM Modi's visit to Ukraine in August, the first-ever by an Indian Prime Minister since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, highlighted India’s active involvement in promoting peace in the region. Though India is viewed as neutral in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Modi has continuously advocated for peace, reaffirming India’s role as a supporter of stability.
