Home Minister announces 33pc reservation for women in govt jobs in Tripura

AGARTALA: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched on Tuesday the Tripura government's "Policy for Women's Empowerment," which includes a 33 percent reservation for women in all state government employment.

On International Women's Day, Shah launched Tripura's ambitious strategy, the 'Mahila Shastikaran Abhiyan,' which prescribes policies spanning social, economic, and political spheres.

Education, health, nutrition, sanitation, social protection, violence prevention, legal protection, and infrastructure development are covered in the social sector, while skilling, employment, banking and insurance, industry, startups, and climate change are addressed in the economic sector.

Women would be given 33 percent reservation in all state government employment and outsourced personnel in future vacancies, as well as reservation in all higher educational institutions based on gender ratio.

In addition, the programme recommended a 3 percent interest subsidy for female students admitted to institutes of national importance, 50 percent reservation for women in government market stalls and retail complexes, and 50 percent earmarking of funds for women entrepreneurs in the state government's venture capital fund.
