Pratapgarh: To have their marriage solemnised in a remote village of Pratapgarh district, a hassled groom had to seek police assistance. On Saturday night, a group of villagers, including the bride's family, cordoned off a wedding party and began attacking them in Narsinghgarh village, which is located within the Kunda police circle in Pratapgarh. When the groom's pals continued to dance for more than half an hour after arriving at the bride's house while her family members waited for the welcome ceremony, trouble ensued. When the groom, Raju, arrived to the police station and stated that some unidentified locals had cordoned off the wedding party and assaulted a few of them, a team of Kunda police hurried to the scene. According to police, the groom sat inside the car for more than half an hour while his pals danced. When the bride's family asked them to stop dancing and come to the welcome ceremony, they got into a fight. As a result, some peasants from the bride's side surrounded the wedding party and assaulted a few attendees. The groom and some of his pals ran when they sensed problems and headed straight to the Kunda police station. The marriage was afterwards solemnised in the presence of police.
