Govt Issues Urgent Warning for Apple Device Users: Protect Your iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks Now!

Attention Apple device owners! The government has issued a serious warning regarding the safety of your iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and even Vision Pro headsets. Here's what you need to know to keep your devices safe.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) recently issued a high-risk alert for users of various Apple products. This alert highlights a critical vulnerability called "remote code execution" that affects multiple Apple devices.

According to CERT-In, this vulnerability affects a wide range of Apple software and hardware, including older versions of Apple Safari, macOS Ventura, macOS Sonoma, visionOS, iOS, and iPadOS.

This security flaw is particularly dangerous because it allows remote attackers to run unauthorized code on your device. The exploit takes advantage of issues in WebRTC and CoreMedia, making it possible for attackers to compromise your device's security remotely.

If you own an iPhone XS, iPad Pro (12.9-inch, 10.5-inch, and 11-inch models), iPad Air, iPad, or iPad mini, and your device is running on iOS or iPadOS versions earlier than 17.4.1, you are at risk.

Similarly, if you have an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPad Pro (9.7-inch and 12.9-inch 1st generation models), iPhone X, or iPad 5th generation, it's crucial to update your device to iOS or iPadOS versions 16.7.7 or later to protect yourself.

MacBook users should also take action, especially if they're using macOS Ventura versions earlier than 13.6.6 or macOS Sonoma versions earlier than 14.4.1. And for users of the Apple Vision Pro headset, be cautious if your device is running on visionOS versions earlier than 1.1.1.

To mitigate the risk of compromise, CERT-In has recommended several precautionary measures for Apple device users.
