Panaji: The State Youth Congress in Goa has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electrical Engineer requesting him to remove the banners and posters of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on electric poles. As part of the information received, GPYC Chairman Varad Mardolkar submitted a memorandum last Thursday. He has demanded action against the BJP and addressed a press conference outside Vidyut Bhawan in Panaji. Meanwhile, he said, "Government officials failed to respond whether BJP had sought permission to put up banners. It is clear that these officers are working at the behest of BJP leaders.'' At the same time, Varad Mardolkar also said, "The Chief Electrical Engineer was silent on this issue when we asked him some questions. The BJP has misused its power and put up banners and posters of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on electric poles from airport-Dabolim to Karti Ponda and Dharbandora, as well as on the way from Ponda and Vasco to Panaji. These posters are in connection with the Home Minister's visit to Goa.'' He further alleged that the BJP has not taken permission to put posters and banners on electric poles. At the same time, he demanded, "I request the electricity department to direct the engineers and other employees to remove all hoardings, posters and banners on electric poles immediately. The use of government property for political gains is not correct. Government officials should not come under pressure from BJP and take action against them.''
