Panaji: The Goa government has recently launched a new scheme. Under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided once to the family members of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19. Recently, the State Social Welfare Director Umesh Chandra Joshi has notified the scheme. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had announced this last month. In fact, the notification issued says, "The objective of the scheme is to provide an ex-gratia of Rs. The annual income of the beneficiary's family should not exceed Rs 8 lakh. Under this scheme, any family can claim only once". At the same time, the notification issued also states, "The beneficiary should be a resident of the state for at least 15 years. Under this scheme, the wife/husband of the deceased or the children dependent on it can apply for benefits". Announcing his address on the occasion of the state's foundation day last month, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said that the 'Mukhyamantri Anath Aadhar Yojana' will be launched under which monthly financial assistance will be provided to orphans. The age limit for child prisoners has also been increased to 21'. There are also reports that orphans of Class X whose parents died due to corona infection will also be given free laptops by the state government.
