Global Peace Convention organized by Indore based National Peace Movement: Jan 30 to Feb 1

As in the previous years, this year also on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the inauguration of the three days Seventh National Peace Convention (January 30 to February 1) will be held ONLINE on 30th January at 5.00 pm. The Peace Convention is organized by the Indore based National Peace Movement in collaboration with the Peace and Conflict Resolution/Prevention Committee of Rotary International 3040 District, and Rotary Club Indore Malvika.

Since the convention is online, people from India and abroad will be taking part in this year’s convention. Thus it has become the first Global Peace Convention to be organized by the National Peace Movement. The first Peace Convention was held in Indore in 2015 and later, taking into account the demand of the members, the convention was held in Nagaland, Goa, Kochi, Gurgoan and Bangalore. This year the convention was to take place in Indore because of the special interest taken by the District Governor 3040, Rtn. Dr. Gajendra Singh Narang; but due to Covid 19 it is organized online.

The main speaker of the inaugural session on 30th January will be Shrimati Anuradha Shankar IPS, ADGP Bhopal, and the Chief Guest will be Rtn. Shekar Mehta, Rotary International President (2021-22). Professor Dr. Obiora Ike of Geneva, Switzerland, Lavina D’Souza from USA and Gajendra Singh Narang, District Governor, Rotary District 3040 also will be speaking during the inaugural session.

During the three days’ convention, eminent personalities from India and abroad (Nepal, France, Austria, UK, USA, and Switzerland) will be sharing their views on different topics related to peace and harmony. Besides these, a separate session is arranged for the youth to express their views on issues based on peace. Eminent personalities will be chairing different sessions. The concluding session will be presided over by the well known Gandhian, Dr. Sudharshan Iyenger, former Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapeeth Ahmedabad. The main speakers of this session will be Rotary International Director, Rtn. Dr. Bharat Pandya and Rtn. Dr. Kiran Lal Shreshtha from Nepal.

At the end of the three days programme, an action plan will be prepared by the participants through group discussion. Besides Rotarians, 845 participants from India and abroad have already registered for the 7th National/Global Peace Convention.
