Panaji: Former Goa Minister Rohan Khaunte on Thursday said he will join the ruling BJP, a day after resigning from the post of MLA. Khunte, who resigned as an independent MLA from Porvorim assembly constituency, said in a statement, "I have decided to stop the BJP's repression to ensure continuity of development of Porvorim as well as to imbibe a culture of inclusion and solidarity. ' Rohan Khote will join the BJP at 10 am at Mahalaxmi temple in Panaji on Friday. Khaunte was a cabinet minister in the erstwhile Manohar Parrikar government. He had helped the BJP form the government after the 2017 assembly elections. Goa Urban Development Minister Milind Naik resigned from the cabinet on Wednesday amid allegations of sexual harassment levelled by the Congress. A statement issued by the chief minister's office late on Wednesday night said Naik resigned in view of ensuring "free and impartial investigation". CMO tweeted that Naik has resigned as minister which has been sent to the governor after he was cleared. Earlier in the day, Congress Goa unit president Girish Chodankar had accused Naik of sexually assaulting a woman by misusing the ministership. Chodankar had alleged that the woman was sexually assaulted by a minister about a fortnight ago. However, at that time, he did not make the minister's name public.
