MP Rains: 1171 villages hit by floods; CM Shivraj: 'Army to reach today'

Bhopal: Heavy rain and floods continue to wreak havoc in Madhya Pradesh. Shivpuri, Sheopur, Datia, Gwalior Bhind as well as 1171 villages in Rewa district of Gwalior-Chambal division are said to have been hit by floods and rain. Of these, 200 villages are surrounded by floodwater. Meanwhile, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reviewed the flood situation in the state.

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reviewed the situation by holding phone calls with the district administration of Chambal, IG Gwalior, and flood-affected areas IG on Wednesday morning. A large number of people have been secured in the overnight rescue operation, as well as the Air Force's operation will begin as soon as the weather clears. CM Shivraj also made an aerial visit to the flood-affected areas today. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Shivpuri district collector has reported that water is receding. More than 700 people have been rescued. No casualties have been reported so far. Army personnel will reach Narwar and Pohri areas tonight. Chauhan said teams from SDRF and NDRF are constantly evacuating people to safer places.

At the same time, CM Shivraj has appealed to the people of flood-affected villages to be careful. He said we're worried about you. Instructions have been issued to arrange relief camps and food. Ignore the rumors. All dams are safe, have confidence. The government is doing everything possible.
