Enhanced Efficiency of Enforcement Directorate under NDA Government, says PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the improved efficiency of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) since 2014, providing statistics to support his claim. He stated that before 2014, the ED filed less than 1,800 cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). However, this number increased to more than 5,000 after the NDA government came to power, indicating a significant improvement in their efficiency, according to PM Modi.

Additionally, PM Modi noted that the number of searches conducted by the ED also increased significantly, from 84 before 2014 to 7,000 thereafter.

Addressing allegations made by opposition parties regarding the use of central agencies to target them, PM Modi mentioned that only three per cent of the corruption cases registered by the ED are against individuals involved in politics. He emphasized the importance of allowing investigative agencies to work independently, without political interference.

Regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi described them as "critical," stating that voters have experienced the benefits of a stable government after enduring "unstable governments for three decades." He stressed that these "unstable governments" had caused significant damage to the country. PM Modi expressed his belief that the 2024 elections are not just about the BJP or himself but are an initiative of the people based on their experiences.

Reflecting on his tenure as Prime Minister since 2014, PM Modi asserted that he sees his role as serving the people rather than ruling them. He expressed his commitment to fulfilling the hopes of the citizens and emphasized that his government's focus is on serving the nation.

PM Modi also criticized previous governments for their failure to strengthen India's relations with West Asia. He highlighted that India's relationship with these countries has transitioned from a 'seller/buyer' dynamic to a more comprehensive development-oriented approach.
