Elon Musk has announced that he will attend a rally hosted by Donald Trump on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, the site of a recent assassination attempt on the former president. In a post on his social platform X late Thursday, Musk expressed his support by saying, “I will be there to support!” This came in response to Trump's post about returning to the location. Trump's visit to Butler has raised concerns among local officials due to the previous incident, which resulted in the death of one rally-goer and injuries to two others. During that shooting, a bullet even struck Trump’s right ear. In light of these events, the U.S. Secret Service has enhanced Trump's security measures. This rally marks Trump's second return to a location where he was targeted, as he faced another assassination attempt just last month. Musk's post about attending the rally followed Trump's promotion of the event, which he labeled as “HISTORIC!” Representatives for both Musk and Trump did not immediately comment on the situation. The aftermath of the July shooting led to significant changes within the Secret Service. Kimberly Cheatle resigned from her position as director following the incident, which has drawn scrutiny. A preliminary bipartisan Senate report indicated that the planning failures leading up to the shooting were "foreseeable" and "preventable." Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, stated that the agency has implemented comprehensive changes to its communication and protective operations since the incident. Guglielmi also mentioned that the Secret Service is collaborating closely with the Pennsylvania State Police and local law enforcement in preparation for Trump’s rally. Increased security measures now include Trump speaking behind bulletproof glass during outdoor events. Why Are Elon Musk and His Mother Concerned About Kamala Harris and Tim Walz?
