Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit emphasised the need of value-based education on Saturday, saying it is the only weapon capable of changing the world for the better. Purohit made the remarks while speaking at Khalsa College's 116th convocation. "Education is the only weapon we have to alter the world for the better, and value-based education is the only way to take India to new heights," the Governor remarked. He urged students to study hard and live simply, emphasising that there are no shortcuts to success and that each milestone can only be accomplished with devotion, tenacity, and endurance. "Do not forget to thank all those who have been a part of this phase of your life as you get the degree, which is a result of several years of hard work," he said the students. "Without principles, life is meaningless." It's more meaningful because of values and spiritual ways of living," he remarked. He went on to say that only those who are adequately educated can confront the trials of life and emerge victorious. The Governor said, the degree is not an end goal in and of itself, but rather a component of a greater life journey as a new chapter of life begins.
