Earthquake of Magnitude 5.3 Strikes Telangana: Tremors Felt in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra

TELENGANA: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale shook the Mulugu district in Telangana early Wednesday morning at 7:27 am. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed the seismic activity through a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The earthquake's tremors extended beyond Telangana, with Maharashtra's Nagpur and Gadchiroli districts experiencing light vibrations. Local residents in Nagpur reported mild tremors, as corroborated by India Meteorological Department (IMD) sources. Similarly, Gadchiroli, situated near the Telangana border, also felt the shocks, according to the district information office.

Reports from Andhra Pradesh indicated that several regions in the state experienced the tremors as well. Experts explained that light tremors are typically felt within a radius of 200 to 300 kilometers from the earthquake's epicenter, as noted by IMD officials and reported by PTI.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties have surfaced. Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols in the event of aftershocks.
