Earthquake of 4.9 Magnitude Hits Kashmir Valley, No Casualties Reported

Kashmir Valley was struck by an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale on Thursday afternoon, shaking the region at approximately 4:19 pm.

This marks the second earthquake to affect the area within 24 hours. Earlier, the Kashmir Weather portal reported a similar tremor with a 5.0 magnitude, noting the earthquake's epicenter in Afghanistan. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or significant property damage following the latest tremor.

Just two weeks ago, on a Wednesday morning, November 13, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake had hit Jammu and Kashmir, triggering panic as its tremors were felt across the Kashmir Valley. That earthquake, originating from Afghanistan, had a depth of 192 kilometers and occurred around 10:43 am, according to the National Center for Seismology.

The recent seismic activity has once again raised awareness about the region's vulnerability to such natural events.
