Shilong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday attended a virtual meeting to bost the domestic tourism. This meeting was called by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel. Sangma informed Patel on several initiatives and intervention taken by the state for ease of travel to enhance domestic tourism. He said that direct flight from Delhi to Shillong and from Shillong to other state capitals in Northeast will boost tourism. In the meeting, the brainstorming was done on ways to promote tourism and measures being adopted for the safety of tourists as the State gears up to open for tourism. In Meeting CM also said that Meghalaya has prepared itself to attract the tourists and has also inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with a private airline company to operationalise flights from Delhi to Shillong, which would possess positive impact on the tourism. In the Meeting CM said that the direct flight from Delhi to Shillong and from Shillong to other state capitals in Northeast will open up a huge tourism market. He further added that that 22 million outbound tourists from India, who usually look for high-end tourism destinations outside, can take benefit of the low corona situation in Northeast and explore the scenic and the area's natural beauty.
