Conrad Sangma, the CM of Meghalaya, has denied allegations that he broke COVID-19 protocols. Conrad Sangma was replying to allegations made by the Meghalaya Congress over his participation during the Republic Day festivities. "I believe anybody questioning my integrity and my full devotion to this entire subject is quite sad, and I think these people have nothing better to do," Sangma said in Shillong to media reporters. "I was somebody who, although not testing positive, did not go (to the statehood day celebration) on January 21, knowing that I was not feeling well." In truth, if I had truly want to go, I would have tested later and taken advantage of the situation, but I did not." However, the Meghalaya chief minister was unable to attend the statehood day in person since he had kept himself in isolation due to mild COVID symptoms. Ampareen Lyngdoh, a Congress MLA, had earlier said that seeing the chief minister at the Republic Day ceremony was "a big shock." "Many observations have now surfaced, and the government's SOPs are being questioned. "Those who have tested positive in the past or who may test positive in the future will be confused by these instructions," the Congress leader stated. "It's important that the CM provide immediate clarification so that protocols in place aren't disturbed or flawed at this important moment," Lyngdoh added.
