Dholpur: 3 drowning children in river rescued! Anushka herself drowned in an attempt to save fourth

Jaipur: Five small children arrived in the Dholpur district of Rajasthan on August 23, 2021, to immerse Fulleriya in the Parvati river, two of whom died after drowning in deep water. The tragic incident took place in village Khuri Pura of Village Panchayat Vinti Pura in the Maniyan police station area. Sarpanch Rajesh Sikarwar started a private rescue with the help of villagers and fished out the bodies of the two girls from the river. The incident was then reported to the Maniyan police station.

Police took the bodies of the two children to the government hospital in Maniyan and conducted a postmortem in the presence of family members at night and handed over the bodies of the duo. The highlight of the incident was that Anushka, the eldest child, pulled three children out of the water safely, but finally drowned in the water while trying to save her younger cousin's Chhabi. According to reports, 13-year-old Anushka, 7-year-old Chhabi, 12-year-old Khushboo, 10-year-old Pankaj and 10-year-old Govinda, a resident of Pura village of Khuri, had come to the Parvati river along with other children of the village to immerse the second day of the Raksha Bandhan programme Fulleriya.

During the immersion, Chhabi, Khushboo, Pankaj and Govinda four children started drowning in the deepwater of the river. It was then that the eldest girl Anushka jumped into the river and pulled three children out of the river safely, but finally, when the little girl reached to save Chhabi, Chhabi caught Anushka and both the sisters died due to drowning. Anushka and Chhabi were the only daughters of two brothers. Since this incident, there have been mourning in the family.
