DCW Takes Swift Action Against Obscene Depictions of Hindu Goddesses

New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has swiftly acted upon a distressing complaint concerning the dissemination of pornographic images depicting Hindu Goddesses. The complainant reported the receipt of unsolicited emails containing explicit and offensive depictions of revered deities.

Swati Maliwal, the Chairperson of DCW, has issued an official notice to the Delhi Police, demanding a comprehensive report of actions taken in response to this alarming incident. This report should include crucial details, such as a copy of the First Information Report (FIR), and any information regarding the apprehension of individuals involved in this case.

Furthermore, the Commission has made it explicit that it seeks detailed information about the steps being undertaken by the Delhi Police to address this grievous issue. Specifically, the DCW has inquired about measures in place to promptly remove such objectionable content from the internet and the preventive actions to curtail its circulation.

Swati Maliwal, while expressing her deep concern, emphasized the gravity of the situation: "The act is not only extremely disrespectful but also possesses the potential to hurt religious sentiments and incite enmity among different groups. This is a profoundly serious matter that requires urgent attention. Therefore, I urge that a First Information Report (FIR) must be registered without delay, and the individuals responsible for this offensive content must be apprehended."

Maliwal also urged for the immediate removal of objectionable content from the internet to prevent its further dissemination and ensure that such offensive content does not perpetuate the pain and discomfort it may cause. The DCW's decisive response underscores the importance of safeguarding respect and reverence for religious sentiments within society.
