Kolkata: Low air pressure in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a cyclonic storm 'Jawad'. The India Meteorological Department has reported this on Friday, today. IMD said the cyclone is expected to reach the west-central Bay of Bengal near north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast on Saturday morning. After which it is going to move north-northeastwards along the coast of Odisha and adjoining Andhra Pradesh and will show its havoc on the coast around Puri by noon on December 5.
Continuing, the IMD informed that heavy rain is expected to start in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern coastal Odisha by Friday evening and the intensity of rainfall is expected to increase on Saturday. The low-pressure area over the Andaman Sea was formed on November 30. The department said it turned into a deep depression on December 2 and in a deep depression on Friday morning. IMD said it was reflected in the cyclone Friday afternoon.
Warning issued in these areas of Andhra: Where it has been found that alerts have been sounded for Saturday in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh. An alert has also been sounded for the Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha. The name of the cyclone 'Jawad' has been proposed by Saudi Arabia. According to reports, the Andhra government has ordered authorities in three north coastal districts to remain on high alert due to the storm. Fishermen have also been asked not to move to west-central and North West Bay of Bengal between December 3 and 5.
