The Congress party has announced nationwide protests to be held on Friday, June 21, to demand justice for students affected by irregularities in the NEET entrance exam, including paper leaks and inflated marks. Intensifying their protest against the Modi government's "inaction" on the NEET issue, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal has urged all state presidents and Legislature Party leaders to organize demonstrations at state headquarters. Senior leaders have been asked to participate in these protests. This move comes just days before the first session of the new Lok Sabha, where the Opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc plans to raise the issue. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and top leader Rahul Gandhi have already questioned the government about the matter. In his letter, Venugopal highlighted the urgent need to address numerous complaints and concerns surrounding this year’s NEET exam, which has been marred by "allegations of irregularities and paper leaks." He noted significant concerns about inflated marks, the awarding of grace marks without disclosing the methodology, and technical glitches during the exam. Venugopal accused BJP-ruled states like Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana of being the epicenters of organized corruption, as evidenced by recent arrests. He emphasized that such irregularities undermine the credibility of the examination process and jeopardize the future of countless students. Congress, he said, is committed to enforcing strict laws against paper leaks to protect the youth's future. On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remained silent on the issue, which affects over 24 lakh students. He condemned the organized corruption in the examination process and reiterated Congress's commitment to raising the voice of the youth from the streets to Parliament to pressure the government for reform.
