CHD Group, a health organization based in Mangaluru, India, will lead an 18-member multi-country delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22. The event, held under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), will bring together global leaders and experts to address urgent climate issues. The 18-member delegation of experts comprised food scientists, medical doctors, IT specialists, agricultural experts, global health researchers, finance and energy professionals, and policy administrators from countries including India, Azerbaijan, the USA, Canada, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Kenya, the UK, Uganda, and Austria. A key highlight of COP29 is the participation of the COP29 Youth Delegates on Climate Migration, a 24-member group supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). These young advocates, representing diverse backgrounds and regions, are dedicated to promoting meaningful solutions around climate migration. Throughout the conference, they will engage with government representatives, climate experts, civil society members, and other stakeholders to advocate for innovative, youth-led responses to climate displacement. These youth delegates bring a wealth of experience and passion to COP29, aiming to drive climate solutions that incorporate migration as a response to environmental challenges. Attendees are invited to meet the youth delegates at the IOM Pavilion, where they will share insights into their mission and contributions at the conference. CHD Group, recognized by the UNFCCC, is committed to participating in high-level discussions, contributing to climate strategies, and advocating for effective climate action. Their accreditation allows them to observe, participate, and engage in dialogues to advance climate goals and foster international collaboration. Canada will also be represented at COP29 by a diverse delegation led by Environment and Climate Change Minister Steven Guilbeault, along with Ambassador for Climate Change Catherine Stewart and Chief Negotiator Jeanne-Marie Huddleston. The Canadian delegation will include Indigenous representatives, civil society groups, youth, businesses, labor organizations, parliamentarians, and officials from provincial and territorial governments, reflecting Canada’s commitment to an inclusive approach to climate action.
