NEW DELHI: On September 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 10th anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, praising its achievements and expressing a commitment to transform India into a leading manufacturing and innovation hub. In a post on the social media platform X, Modi shared, “Today, we mark #10YearsOfMakeInIndia. I compliment all those who are tirelessly working to make this movement a success over the last decade. ‘Make in India’ illustrates the collective resolve of 140 crore Indians to make our nation a powerhouse of manufacturing and innovation.” He noted the significant increase in exports across various sectors, emphasizing how the initiative has strengthened the economy and built new capacities. Modi reiterated the government’s dedication to promoting ‘Make in India’ through various means and vowed that India would continue its reform efforts. “Together, we will build an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat!” he added. A Bright Future for Manufacturing Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, in an interview reflecting on the milestone, highlighted that the initiative has successfully attracted both domestic and foreign investment. He remarked, “We have achieved great success, and a brilliant future is ahead for manufacturing in the country as the ‘Make in India’ programme is celebrating its 10 years. We are also seeing very big investment plans on the anvil, which will create millions of jobs and expand our manufacturing contribution to the economy.” Goyal expressed optimism about the ongoing momentum under the Make in India initiative, asserting that the manufacturing sector's share in the economy will likely increase in the years to come.
