New Delhi: Amidst Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's classification as 'Other Backward Caste (OBC)', Bharatiya Janata Party MP Harnath Yadav questioned the clarity of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi's own caste and religion, stating, "Can Rahul and Sonia Gandhi specify their caste and religion?" Harnath Yadav emphasized that the Congress party cannot accept the fact that PM Modi hails from a backward class. "Can Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi specify their caste and religion? A person who doesn't know himself has no right to make such statements. The Congress party's essence is against the backward classes. They cannot digest the fact that PM Modi belongs to a backward class. People of the country no longer take Rahul Gandhi seriously. He is single-handedly destroying the Congress party," he remarked to the media. Earlier, during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Odisha, Rahul Gandhi stirred controversy by asserting that PM Modi was born into a general category, drawing criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party. "Whenever BJP workers approach you, tell them one thing: our Prime Minister lied to the entire nation by claiming to belong to the backward class. He was not born into a backward class; he belongs to the general caste. Inform this to every BJP worker," Rahul Gandhi addressed a gathering in Odisha's Jharsuguda. These comments came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Parliament, referred to himself as 'sabse bada OBC' (the biggest OBC), accusing the Congress of hypocrisy and double standards in its treatment of leaders from backward communities. "The Congress party and the UPA government failed to deliver justice to OBCs. Recently, Karpoori Thakur ji was posthumously conferred with the Bharat Ratna. When he became Bihar CM in 1970, what attempts were not made to destabilize his government? The Congress cannot tolerate OBCs...They constantly count the number of OBCs in government. Can't you (Congress) see the biggest OBC here?" PM Modi stated during his reply to the 'Motion of Thanks' on the President's Address in Lok Sabha. PM Modi continued his critique of the UPA government, highlighting its failure to ensure justice for OBCs.
