In July this year, India's three major private telecom companies—Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea—increased the prices of their prepaid and postpaid recharge plans. This has affected telecom users across the country, as a large population of the country is connected to these three companies. BSNL's reverse bet When these companies increased their recharge prices, the government telecom company BSNL took a unique step. To further improve its service, BSNL not only reduced the prices of its recharge plans but also introduced many attractive offers. In this way, it tried to attract the customers of private companies towards itself. Attractive recharge plans of BSNL BSNL has introduced many new and cheap recharge plans to compete with its customers. One of these is a new plan, which gives 35 days validity for just Rs 107. Usually, other companies consider 28 days validity as one month, but this plan of BSNL gives 35 days validity to the users. This will cost the users about Rs 3 per day, so that their SIM card remains active. Free calling and additional benefits With this plan, users get 200 minutes of free calling. When these 200 minutes are over, a charge of Rs 1 per minute will be levied for local calls and Rs 1.3 per minute for STD calls. This is a very attractive offer, which is attracting users towards BSNL, leaving behind the options of expensive recharge plans. Impact of TRAI report Recently, TRAI released a report, which stated that after the private companies increased the price of recharge plans in July 2024, the maximum number of new users have joined BSNL. At the same time, companies like Jio, Airtel and VI have lost millions of their old customers. BSNL's 4G and 5G connectivity If BSNL strengthens its BSNL 4G and BSNL 5G connectivity, it can create problems for companies like Jio and Airtel. In such a situation, the position of private companies can be weakened due to BSNL's attractive recharge plans and better connectivity. BSNL has attracted customers by offering cheap recharge plans as part of its strategies. Taking advantage of this situation, if BSNL improves its services, it can become a big challenge for private companies. In such a situation, more changes can be seen in the telecom sector in the coming times.
