Kolkata: On Friday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra raised serious concerns regarding the alleged conduct of the Mamata Banerjee government in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape case. Patra questioned the motives behind the reported offer of money to the victim's father by the District Collector and suggested that such actions might indicate an attempt to conceal information. During a press conference, Patra remarked, "A person offers money when he is corrupt and trying to hide something. What was the government of Mamata Banerjee trying to hide, and why was money offered to the victim's father? We demand answers to the questions raised by the victim's father." Patra emphasized that the questions posed by the victim's father are critical for the investigation's progress. He stated, "The questions raised by the victim's father are of utmost importance and form the foundation of the investigation and its outcome." Patra highlighted several specific concerns: Money Offer: He questioned the appropriateness of offering money to the victim's father while he was grieving the brutal murder of his daughter. Delay and Confusion: He criticized the authorities for keeping the victim's family waiting outside the seminar hall for three hours and questioned the reason behind this delay. He also noted that the family was initially informed of the death being a suicide, contrary to the reality of murder. Signing Blank Paper: Patra demanded an explanation for why the police allegedly asked the educated family to sign a blank paper. Earlier, on Thursday, the victim's family accused the Kolkata Police of trying to offer them money while they were mourning their daughter's death. The family voiced their grievances during a protest at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, questioning the humanity of the police's actions. These developments raise serious questions about the handling of the case and the integrity of the involved authorities.
