According to sources, the name of Union Minister of State George Kurien from Kerala is being discussed rapidly for this seat in BJP. George Kurien is originally a resident of Kerala and has held many important responsibilities in BJP.
BJP's decision has disappointed the leaders of Madhya Pradesh, who were contenders for this seat. Among these contenders, the names of former ministers Narottam Mishra and Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya are prominent. Former MP KP Yadav was also considered a strong contender for this seat.
When will the voting take place?
Voting for this vacant seat of Rajya Sabha will be held on 3rd September. Voting will be held from 9 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes and declaration of results will also be done on the same day. Candidates can withdraw their names till 27th August. Earlier 26th August was the last date.
