Ranchi: The seat sharing formula between BJP and AJSU for the Jharkhand assembly elections has almost been finalised. According to sources, a meeting was held at Amit Shah's residence to give 11 seats to AJSU. The formal announcement of the seats will be made in the next one or two days. On Saturday evening, a meeting was held between AJSU chief Sudesh Mahto, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Home Minister Amit Shah on this issue. In the meeting, AJSU had earlier demanded 13 seats, while BJP was offering it 8 seats. But in the late night meeting, the two parties agreed on 11 seats. Earlier, Sudesh Mahto and Himanta Biswa Sarma had a separate meeting in which seat sharing was discussed. Himanta Biswa Sarma had also announced that BJP, AJSU and JDU will contest the elections together in Jharkhand. The formal announcement will be made after 'Pitru Paksha'. He said that talks have been finalised on 99 percent of the seats and discussions are going on for the remaining seats. In the 2019 assembly elections, BJP and AJSU contested separately as there was no consensus on seat sharing. AJSU had fielded its candidates on 52 seats, but both the parties suffered losses. In that election, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha led by Hemant Soren formed the government, and BJP had to play the role of opposition.
