Agartala: The Election Commission of India made a mistake regarding the dates of the Tripura and Meghalaya elections. In fact, the election dates have been announced in the three northeastern states of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. In a press release issued regarding this, the dates were changed. However, the Commission immediately corrected the mistake. On Friday, the Election Commission issued a notification regarding the elections to Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. There was a change in the dates of Tripura and Meghalaya, however, as soon as this news went viral, the ECI immediately corrected that mistake. The Election Commission had announced that the elections to be held on February 16 in Tripura will be shifted to February 27 and Meghalaya elections to be held on February 27 to February 16. Apart from this, no changes were made in the election of Nagaland. The Election Commission had rectified its mistake. Let us tell you that on January 18, the Election Commission of India announced the election dates for the three northeastern states. Like last time, elections will be held in two phases in all three states. Tripura will go to polls on February 16. So on the other hand, Nagaland and Meghalaya will go to polls simultaneously on February 27. Results will come on March 2 in all three states. In Tripura, there is a BJP government, and in Meghalaya-Nagaland, the BJP is part of the ruling coalition. Voting was held in all three states in February last year only. There are 60 assembly seats in the three states. In such a situation, a figure of 31 is needed for the majority to form the government. The term of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly ends on March 12, the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on March 15, and the Tripura Legislative Assembly on March 22. In such a situation, assembly elections will be held in all three states. In 2018, elections were held in two phases in all three states. In the first phase, polling was held in Tripura on February 18, and in the second phase on February 27 in Meghalaya and Nagaland. The results were out on March 3, 2018.
