New Delhi: Today is the birth anniversary of renowned Hindi poet Makhanlal Chaturvedi ji on April 4, he was born on this day in 1889. He was a renowned poet of India, as well as an outstanding writer and journalist, whose works became very popular. He was a unique Hindi creator of simple language and passionate emotions. As editor of prestigious letters like Prabha and Karmaveer, he campaigned vigorously against British rule and called upon the new generation to come out by breaking the chains of slavery. For this, he had to become the wrath of the British Empire many times. He was a true patriot and also went to jail while actively participating in the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1921-22. His famous works are Him Kirtini, Him Tarangini, Yug Charan, and Literature Deity, and his most famous poems are Veenu Lo Gunje, Dhara Deep Se Deep Jale, Kaisa Bhand Bana Deti Hai and Pushya's desire. In his memory, the Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Akademi (Madhya Pradesh Cultural Council) organises the annual 'Makhanlal Chaturvedi Samaroh' since 1987, besides being conferred the annual 'Makhanlal Chaturvedi Award' for excellence in poetry by an Indian poet. Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Painters' University in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh has been named in his honour. In April 1913, Hindi of Khandwa, Sevi Kaluram Gangrade, started publishing the monthly magazine 'Prabha', the editing of which was entrusted to Makhanlalji. In September 1913, he left his job as a teacher and became completely devoted to journalism, literature and the national movement. In the same year, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi from Kanpur started editing and publishing 'Pratap'.
