AP Govt Disburses Rs 589 crore to 3.92 L Women under ‘EBC Nestham’

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday announced the release of Rs 589 crores under the 'EBC Nestham' scheme to help women from the OC category (open category or general category).

Even the poorest female citizens from the EBC category would benefit from YSR's EBC (Economically Backward Classes) Nestham scheme, which aims to improve their livelihood and financial empowerment. For the first time, a programme was created to help women who fall into the OC (open category) category.

The government of Andhra Pradesh has realized the importance of include this initiative in its efforts to raise women out of the OC category. The Chief Minister noted that the implementation of this scheme was not based on an electoral pledge or a manifesto, but rather on the desire to uplift women from the upper castes.

The Chief Minister, speaking on the occasion, stated, "Dr. BR Ambedkar, the father of our constitution, deserves our highest praise. We are taking steps to ensure that the Constitution's goals are met. Throughout our two-and-a-half years in office, we have taken steps to ensure that the spirit of the Constitution is upheld at all times. We are running this initiative for the benefit of the lower castes as well as the upper castes. We are immediately putting Rs 589 crore into the accounts of 3.93 thousand ladies today. Women aged 45 to 60 from the Reddy, Kamma, Aryavaishya, Kshatriya, Velama, Brahmin, and other OC communities will benefit from the programme."
