MUMBAI : Anuj Thapan, the accused in the Salman Khan house firing case, tragically took his own life in police custody. Thapan hanged himself with a bedsheet, which was intended for comfort but became the means of his death. During a morning check, police found Thapan unconscious in his barrack, creating a disturbing scene of despair. Despite a rush to GT Hospital for emergency treatment, Thapan did not survive his injuries. His death raises numerous unanswered questions and deepens the mystery surrounding the case. Anuj Thapan was accused of supplying weapons to the shooters who targeted Salman Khan's residence in Bandra. The Mumbai Police has described gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as the gang leader and has charged all the arrested individuals under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Earlier, the two shooters, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, were detained in Bhuj, Gujarat, for their involvement in the incident. Salman's security was elevated to Y-Plus in 2022 due to threats from Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. Salman Khan was also permitted to carry a personal firearm and acquired an armored vehicle for enhanced protection. In the meantime, the Mumbai Crime Branch requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to issue a lookout notice for Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol, who claimed responsibility for the firing at Salman Khan's house through his Facebook profile. The Crime Branch stated that the shooters who attacked Khan's home had two guns and were instructed to fire 10 rounds.
