Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh - In a determined effort to make the state drug-free, the Visakhapatnam (Vizag) police carried out a resolute anti-drug campaign at the 'Vizag Conventions' located in Palem area on a recent Tuesday. Spreading Awareness Amongst Students: During the campaign, City Police Commissioner, C.M. Trivikrama Verma, addressed the gathering and emphasized the critical need for students to steer clear of drugs. He warned that those found using, possessing, supplying, or selling drugs would face severe penalties under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Insight into the Adverse Effects of Drug Consumption: IPS Verma specifically directed his message towards medical and engineering students, urging them to understand the detrimental impact of drug consumption. He highlighted that drug abuse not only leads to serious health issues but also wreaks havoc on family relationships and brings about financial instability. Encouraging Youth to Stay Away from Drugs: The police commissioner passionately advised the youth to abstain from drugs altogether. He took the opportunity to educate students about the relevant laws pertaining to drug use. Pledge for an Anti-Drug and Ganja-Free Society: The event concluded with all participants taking a solemn pledge to fight against drugs and work towards a ganja-free society. The students and their parents conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the city police for their efforts.
