Andhra: Train derails in Vizag, no casualties

Vizag: The Indian railways reported that the wheels of a general coach of the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul train derailed at Sivalingapuram station in the Kottavalasa - Araku Section on Tuesday.

An official statement states that nobody was injured in the incident that occurred Tuesday at 9:45 AM when the train was approaching the station.

It said an inquiry is being conducted to determine whether the part of steep gradient, the extremely treacherous terrain, or the temperature drop was to blame for the incident.

As soon as the derailment took place, the authorities came into action and an accident Relief team deployed to Shivalingapuram station from Vizag (Visakhapatnam).

Anup Satpathy, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), and a group of engineers reached to the location to keep an eye on the restoration efforts. The train's derailed carriage was taken off of it and sent to Kirandul.

According to the official announcement, the restoration work was finished by 2 PM on the same day.

At Araku, the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul 08551 train was terminated early, and passengers who requested refunds were given their money back, it said.
