Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh: On Wednesday, Andrha Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy virtually launched the Jagananna Palavelluva-AP Amul project in Krishna district. The latest initiative of the Andhra Pradesh government is to provide financial assistance to dairy producers in 264 villages in the Krishna region. "With the goal of stabilising milk prices, the state administration stepped forward to sell the commodity properly and ensure that farmers receive remunerative returns," an official said. Amul began working with the state in November 2020, according to the state government. It has since spread to over 500 villages across the state. So far, 1,79,248 farmers from 1,906 villages have donated 1.67 crore litres of buffalo milk and 73,96,857 litres of cow milk through 1,093 RBKs. Every day, 30,640 farmers collect an average of 75,000 litres of milk. In the YSR Kadapa, Prakasam, Chittoor, Guntur, and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh, the Amul project is already a success. During his Padayatra, the Chief Minister encountered several dairy farmers who were experiencing financial difficulties, he said. "The dairy farmers told me that they compared their milk prices to mineral water prices, claiming that whereas a litre of mineral water costs Rs 20, they don't even get that for a litre of milk," the chief minister remarked.
