Andhra CM Jagan Reddy sets up panel to visit Odisha train accident site

AMARAVATI: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday constituted a high-level committee of IAS officers to visit the site of the tragic train accident in Odisha's Balasore district.

G. Amarnath, the state's IT minister, will serve as the panel's chair. The decision was made after the Chief Minister discussed the issue in a high-level meeting with CMO representatives earlier on Saturday.

Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed them to communicate with the Railway Department and Odisha CMO representatives. He also told them to set up  inquiry and grievance cells in the offices of District Collectors to deal with grievances and respond immediately.

The Panel, which includes Amarnath, Joint Collector of Srikakulam Naveen, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Anand, and Civil Supplies Commissioner Arun Kumar, will go to the accident site and offer assistance in the relief and rescue efforts.

The Chief Minister has given instructions to the staff to prepare the hospitals in the districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam for the treatment of the injured and provision of medical care, as well as for the readiness of ambulances.

They were also told to keep him updated on any new discoveries.
