Lucknow: Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government, rallying support for the PDA (Pichhde, Dalit, and Alpasankhyak) community ahead of the elections in the Barabanki Lok Sabha seat. Yadav highlighted Barabanki's significance as the heartland of the Samajwadi Party and stressed the disillusionment among the PDA community. He remarked that the PDA community has been betrayed the most by the current government, lacking the respect and rights they deserve. "The PDA (Pichhde, Dalit, and Alpasankhyak) community is determined to defeat the BJP-led NDA this time. They have been the most betrayed. The current government has failed to give them the respect and rights they deserve. That's why the PDA community has come together to teach the BJP a lesson," Yadav stated. In the electoral battle for Barabanki, BJP candidate Rajrani Rawat will face off against Tanuj Punia of the Indian National Congress. Yadav expressed confidence in Punia's victory, anticipating a historic voter turnout in his favor. "Tanuj Punia ji is poised to win this time with a historic number of votes," Yadav expressed. Critiquing the BJP's tactics, Yadav accused them of engaging in negative politics. "The negative narrative and politics that the BJP engaged in are now backfiring on them. They have fallen into their own trap," Yadav added. Looking beyond Barabanki, Yadav projected a significant victory for the INDIA bloc in Uttar Pradesh. "This time, UP will send the maximum number of MPs from the INDIA bloc. When the results are announced, our MPs will decide who the Prime Minister will be," Yadav asserted. Furthermore, Yadav emphasized that the elections were crucial for preserving the constitution. "These elections are about safeguarding the constitution because if the constitution is altered, there will be no equality or justice. I urge the people of the Bahujan Samaj not to waste their vote and vote only for the INDIA bloc," Yadav urged. Barabanki is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. The Barabanki Lok Sabha Constituency is scheduled to vote on May 20 in the fifth phase of the elections. The constituency comprises six segments: Kursi, Zaidpur, Ramnagar, Haidergarh, Dariyabad, and Barabanki. While the Barabanki Lok Sabha seat was once a stronghold of the Congress, both the Samajwadi Party and the BJP have strengthened their bases in the area over time. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, Upendra Singh Rawat of the BJP emerged victorious, securing 535,594 votes against Ram Sagar Rawat of the Samajwadi Party. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Singh Rawat of the BJP won, defeating Congress candidate PL Punia by 211,878 votes. Priyanka Singh Rawat received 454,214 votes, while PL Punia received 242,336 votes.
