Air India Offers Full Refunds and Vouchers After 30-Hour Flight Delay

Air India has announced that it will fully refund passengers and issue additional travel vouchers after a flight to San Francisco was delayed by over 30 hours. This disruption occurred due to technical problems that led the aircraft to make an unscheduled landing at Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia.

On June 1, more than 200 passengers experienced significant delays when their flight, originally bound for San Francisco, faced a series of issues including a malfunctioning air conditioning system and other technical glitches. The airline decided to land the plane in Krasnoyarsk as a precaution to ensure passenger safety.

Nearly 30 hours after departing from New Delhi, the Air India flight bound for San Francisco finally touched down safely at its destination airport in the US city. The flight had experienced a significant delay after being diverted to Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia due to a technical issue. Despite the unexpected detour and extended travel time, the aircraft was able to complete its journey and land successfully in San Francisco.

In a statement, Air India apologized for the inconvenience and expressed gratitude to the passengers for their understanding. The airline highlighted that the safety of its passengers was the primary concern, which necessitated the precautionary landing.

The flight, initially numbered AI-183, was later re-designated as AI-1179 before safely arriving in San Francisco. Air India worked with local authorities to arrange a relief flight and provided necessary support at Krasnoyarsk Airport through third-party services.
