VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Reddy has directed health officials to provide Rs 5,000 in cash support to each mother who delivers a baby under C-section. with this, the amount of aid provided under the YSR Asara scheme has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000. On Monday, the chief minister presided over a high-level review meeting with health minister Vidadala Rajani and other top officials. He stated that mothers who birth their infants at C-section will henceforth be paid the same amount as mothers who deliver their babies naturally. This would ensure that mother and child were protected regardless of how they gave birth. However, he believes that there has to be a greater awareness among expectant mothers to encourage them to choose natural birth over C-section, the CM said. Officials notified the CM that 2,446 procedures were covered under the Arogyasri plan. Jagan requested that they increase the amount of procedures to be performed under the scheme so that the poor can receive free healthcare. He responded, "Do this in a week by holding talks with doctors and their associations." The state spends Rs 270 crore per month on the Arogyasri plan, Rs 25 crore on the 104 and 108 services, Rs 35 crore on the YSR Asara scheme, and Rs 4,000 crore per year on the Arogyasri scheme, according to officials. The Centre allocated Rs 223 crore to AP last year under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana plan, and the state now expects Rs 360 crore this year.
