Dehradun: The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard a petition challenging the Uttarakhand High Court's decision to remove occupants from railway land in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. During this, the Supreme Court stayed the high court's decision for 8 weeks. This means encroachments will not be removed from this railway land for 8 weeks now. The next hearing of the case will be on May 2.
According to media reports, the Supreme Court had sought eight weeks' time from the officials to work on the rehabilitation system of the people living here and to consider the need of the railways, which has been accepted by the court. On the other hand, Salman Khurshid said that we have already got relief from the court. Now we have got more time. The next hearing of the case will be on May 2.
According to the information, it was claimed by the railways that people have occupied 29 acres of land. It was also reported that there are 4,365 encroachers here. On behalf of the Railways, advertisements were continuously published in local newspapers regarding this matter. Later, protests started by the local people. Its people approached the Supreme Court. According to media reports, the people living here had said in their petition that the Uttarakhand High Court has passed the order despite knowing the facts. People said that the proceedings in this regard are pending before the District Magistrate. Even after this, the order has been passed. Quoting media reports, people living here had said that railway officials had allegedly talked about the demarcation of April 7, 2021. While it was a hollow claim. No demarcation has been done. The petitioners claimed that they have valid documents which clearly substantiate their claim.
